Lecture September 10th

The plan for the lectures Thursday September 10th is as follows:

• Random samples  (section 5.1: pages 207-208)
• Statistics and sampling distributions (section 5.2: pages 211-216)
• Sampling from a normal population (section 5.3: pages 218-225)
• Order statistics (section 5.4: pages 226-231)

Note that most of the material in sections 5.1-5.3 should be known from earlier courses and will not be covered at the lectures
