Depending on the number of students, the exam will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of June. All students who intend to take the exam in MAT4520 must meet up 11th of June 9.15am at room 534 Niels Henrik Abels hus, to get assigned time for the individual oral examination. You find more information under the link Examination/form of assessment-> Time and place
Note that the examination will be in room 534 (5-th floor) (and not in B 63 (as I had written in the message of 18.05)).
The final syllabus for the course is the chapters 1-5 and 7-8 in Spivak, and the supplementary notes about de Rham Cohomology by Bj?rn Jahren with the following modifications:
Given an oriented manifold with boundary, you need to know the definition of the induced orientation of the boundary. This definition is given in problem 16 of chapter 3 and this definition is included in the syllabus (the definition of induced orientation is repeated in chapter 8 on p. 260).
In chapter 5 I have not lectured proposition 15 and this is not part of the syllabus.
Proposition 14, chapter 7 (the Frobenius integrability theorem) and the following corollary (Corollary 15) is not part of the syllabus.
I have not said anything about volume elements and therefore the stuff about this (page 258-259 in chapter 8) is not part of the syllabus.

The lecture on Tuesday May 22. second will be cancelled (due to the Abel prize award ceremony). There will be a final lecture on Tuesday May 29.

Next week I proceed lecturing from chapter 7, but I will also look at the problems 1d), 2 and 4 from chapter 4.
Monday and Tuesday March 19. and 20. I will proceed lecturing from chapter 7, but I will also look at problem 19 chapter 3 (on Monday) and the exam problem 1 (MA 252) from 8/12 2000 (on Tuesday).
Monday March 5. I will start by looking at problem 3, MAT 252 2001. Tuesday March 6. I will start by looking at problem 16. Chapter 3 in Spivak. This problem is about how to define an orientation of the boundary ?M of a manifold with boundary M given an orientation of M.
In this course there is one compulsory assignment which needs to be passed to be allowed to take the final exam. I will post the problem set for this assignment Thursday April 12. and the deadline for turning in your solution will be Thursday April 26.
On Tuesday next week, after the break, I will look at look at the problems 5 and 7 from chapter 3.

Tomorrow. I will look at problem 1 from the (old )exam problems 1997 MAT 252. Next week i will look at problem 1 b) and c) from 1999 and problem 2 from 2002. (There are links to these problems under the head line "Old exam problems" )
