The examination set of December 18-2013 and a suggestion for solutions will be made available during the day, but not before the deadline of all students.
The first exercise for Monday December 2 is 9.55.2, and not 9.56.2.
A pdf-file with the problems of this year's mandatory assignment and solutions to the problems is now available from the semester page.
The resubmitted mandatory assignments are now marked, and they are all accepted.
They can be collected at the 7th floor of the Math. building.
Follow this link to the collection of old examination problems, or see the page for MAT3500.
The plan is to go through last years's exam after we have finished the regular lectures.
Problems from earlier years may be included in the weekly sts of exercises.
The mandatory assignments have now been marked, and the papers are available at the 7th floor of the mathematics building.
Even though Devilry has marked some as FAILED, everyone that did not pass the first time will have another try. The new deadline is November 14, 14:30.
The exercises 33.4 and 33.5 should be 34.4 and 34.5.
Problem 4b) is now simplified, and will be possible to solve. The revised text is now available. The only change is that "Hausdorff" has been replaced with "T-one".
The mandatory assignment is now available in pdf-form.
The deadline is October 31: 14.30.
In the extra exercise for Week 42, the requirement that X must be a T-one-space, i.e. that each point forms a closed set, is missing.
For the exam, you are expected to know the content of the paragraphs listed in the syllabus, together with set theory to the extent it is used in the course. Examples and theorems from the lectures that fall outside of this will not be expected, but may be used for solving exam problems. You are expected to know results introduced via exercises given on the weekly problem sheets, also when not taken from the text book.
Material explicitly or implicitly refering to order topologies are not expected.
From Monday September 16, Vegard Fjellbo will solve problems on the blackboard the full time, and no time will be allocated for students solving problems under guidience.
On Wednesday September 18, the last ten minutes will be used for a preliminary evaluation of the lectures. Feedback may then be given through the student representatives.
A minor error in the list of problems for week 37 was corrected Tuesday morning, Sept. 3.
On Tuesday August 27 two student representatives were elected:
Anders Lauvland: anderlau<at>ulrik<dot>uio<dot>no.
Pia Lindstr?m: pialin<at>student<dot>matnat<dot>uio<dot>no.
By August 15 there are 36 registered students in MAT3500/4500 Topology.
The lectures have to be moved to larger lecture halls, when possible.
Students are advised to check on the weekly schedule for the location of each lecture.
Note that KN is Kristen Nyg?rds Hus, the old computer science buillding.Tuesday lectures are moved there.
Most of the Wednesday lectures are moved to Aud 4 in VB, but unfortunately we have to stick to seminar room B62 in the math. building for three of the weeks, weeks 34, 36 and 43.
