I have looked through the old exams to see which problems are still relevant. Since 2013 almost all problems are covered by todays syllabus, with a few exceptions of problems requiring Fubini/Tonelli's theorem. See the details here (I have probably missed a few things!)

I have now completed the review lectures. See the bottom of the page with "Information from the lectures".

There have been a number of question about l^p-spaces (the definition in "Notes" can be hard to find), an I have now written a little note that treats them in more detail.

The university has made a general webpage on how to turn in your exam in Inspera:

You should definitely take a look at it, but you may find parts of it irrelevant as there is a lot of emphasis on how to turn in an exam written in Word. Here is a briefer version:

Your exam should be turned in as ONE pdf-file. It can be a scanned handwritten manuscript or a computer-produced text converted into pdf. If for some odd reason you are using Word, you have to make it anonymous by following the instructions on this page

You don't have to put the name of the course and your candidate number...

As Ulrik is busy with more important matters, Tom will take care of the problem session on May 15th. The link is here. Also, there is a misprint in the formulation of Problem 5.20: The reference to Theorem 5.9 should be to Theorem 5.4.3.

I have made (or at least tried to make) a "Padlet" for MAT3400/4400 where you can ask questions about the course or discuss. I have tried to set it up so that everybody is anonymous. The address is:

You can ask questions in English or Norwegian (or in any other language, but don't expect an answer!)

I have now started posting review lectures. The aim is to give you a survey of the suyllabus that may be helpful in preparing for the exam. You'll find the reviews at the end of the page with "Information from the lectures".

I have now completed the lectures from the syllabus, but plan to add some review lectures later.

We have now had more information about the exam from the Mathematics Department. They say:

The exam will be an open book home exam with a duration of seven days. The problems will be similar to those of a mandatory assignment. Collaboration will be allowed, but you have to formulate and write/type the paper yourself, and it should reflect your understanding of the material. The grade will be passed/failed and the limit for passing will be 40% (i.e. the same as on an ordinary exam). The exam problems will be published in Inspera at the original starting time for the exam, and you have to turn in your paper to Inspera as a single pdf-file within 7 days. The Faculty is working to find a solution for students who do not have access to a computer or the Internet.

We have now had news from the Faculty and the Department about the exam form. Here is a summary of the relevant parts for MAT3400/4400 (see the full announcement here):

The exam will be an open book home exam. It will start when the original exam should have started and last for seven days. The exam will be graded on a pass/fail scale and have a workload of up to two days. To guarantee anonymity, Inspera will be used for uploading the papers.

I have tried to set up a ZOOM-meeting for everybody who is interested on Thursday (March 26) at 14.30. The intention is just to have a chat about how things are going and answer questions of common interest. If you have questions of more "local interest", please get in touch with Ulrik or me by email.
