The grades after this semester's exam are now available via Studentweb. The distribution of grades was as follows:
1 A, 6 B, 7 C, 3 D, 2 E, 5 F
The grading process was done according to the assessment guidelines for written exams in mathematics (sorrily, in norwegian):
/studier/eksamen/karakterer/fagspesifikk-karakterbeskrivelse/mn-math.html
In case of a point difference between the two sensors the given grade was the best possible for the student.
The exam set didn't contain any particularly difficult problem, but it was conceived to test the students' knowledge in most of the topics covered in the course. Those who failed had essentially no knowledge of the second part of the course.
Here is the solution of today's exam. We wish you all a nice summer.
Erik and Ulrik
The solution is now available here.
Please note that there will be no exercise sessions or lectures next week due to Easter (even though I might have said "see you next week" in the exercise session this week).
Ulrik
In Problem 1a) you can use, without proving it, that the Lebesgue measure of rE is |r| times the Lebesgue measure of E for any real number r. I forgot that Exercise 8.4.5 in Lindstr?m's book only deals with the case where r is positive.
In Problem 5, the calligraphic B should quite obviously be a calligraphic A. This has now be corrected in the version available online.
Erik
The mandatory assignment is now available here. Read the guidelines carefully and note that the deadline for submission is Thursday, April 25 at 14.30.
A student pointed out an error in the solution of Extra Exercise 18 c) in the exercise set for March 18. The error has now been corrected. If you find any other errors in the solutions of any exercise set, I encourage you to let me know either by email or in the exercise sessions on Mondays. Thank you!
Ulrik
Student representatives for MAT3400/4400 this semester are Per August Moen and Lars Fjelldal. Thanks for their willingness!
P.g.a. eksamensrunde vil det kunne hende at forelesningen torsdag morgen blir noen minutter forsinket. Beklager p? forh?nd hvis det skulle skje! Erik
The weekly exercise sessions will be on Mondays. You will find a link to each exercise set in the schedule for the course.
We look forward to a most interesting semester during which we will present and discuss some of the fundamental results of linear analysis.
