During the postponed exam tomorrow, there will be a digital "lecturer's round" at 10.00, where questions can be asked (for instance to clear up possible misprints or ambiguities in the problem text).
The link and Zoom meeting ID is posted on the front page of the Canvas page for this course.

The Student Council at the Department of Mathematics evaluates various courses given by the Department of Mathematics each year, and this semester MAT2410 is among the chosen. We therefore hope that you would take the time to answer the evaluation by using the link below. All answers are anonymous and the evaluation should take about 10 minutes to complete.

The link is also distributed by e-mail to everyone who have been signed up to the course this semester. Thank you for contributing to the improvement of education at the Department of Mathematics!
Best regards,
The Student Council at the Department of Mathematics
During tomorrow's exam, there will be a digital "lecturer's round", held at 16.00, where questions can be asked (for instance to clear up possible misprints or ambiguities in the problem text). This will be conducted in Zoom by Kristian Ranestad.
The link and Zoom meeting ID is posted on the front page of the Canvas page for this course.
The Zoom room will have the "waiting room" function activated, so that Kristian can answer questions from one person at a time.

Today's session is unfortunately cancelled due to illness.

Today's exercise session is unfortunately cancelled.
I will hold an extra session on Monday 29 Nov, 12.15-14.00, room 108 N. H. Abels hus, set aside for solving the problems from chapter III.6 and answering any last questions you may have before the exam.

Suggested solutions to the second mandatory assignment are now uploaded here.

In general, the following guidelines apply in courses at the Department of Mathematics:
- The examination lasts 4 hours. In addition, you will have an extra 30 minutes to scan and upload your PDF.
- All examination aids are allowed (e.g. books, online resources, scientific programming tools, etc.).
- It is not allowed to collaborate or communicate with others during the exam about the assignments.
- You can be picked out for a meeting to check that you understand the content of your examination attempt. The meeting will not affect your grade, but it can result in a formal investigation into possible cheating. Read more about what is considered cheating on the UiO web pages:?/english/about/regulations/studies/studies-examinations/routines-cheating.html

The next two weeks will be spent on revision and exam problems from previous years. The syllabus is finalised and updated, see this link.
Previous years exam problems for this course are found at this link.
An anonymous Padlet hero has pointed out that problem 2 of the mandatory assignment does not make sense when r = 0. The problem text should have said "r > 0" rather than "r >= 0". The problem text is now corrected.

Here are the suggested solutions to the first mandatory assignment.

There's now a padlet for the course at this link, for you to ask questions related to the course. If you find some resource on complex analysis that you think might be useful to others, feel free to post that as well.

Mandatory assignment 2 has now been updated to correct an error in the formulation of problem 3c).

Mandatory assignment 2 is now posted here, with submission deadline Thursday 4 Nov 14.30.

The second mandatory assignment will be published Thursday next week, with submission deadline 4 Nov.

We are now roughly halfway through the course, and I will meet with student representatives next week for a midpoint evaluation. If you have wishes, suggestions or other comments on the course going forward, this is a particularly good time to share those with either me or with one of the student representatives (Jonatan Winsvold and Vasin Phumimas).

Not related to MAT2410: This week (Tues, Wed & Thurs) there are some lectures on mathematical problem solving happening which may be of interest: Info and schedule

This week the exercise session is on Wednesday and the second lecture is on Friday.

Solutions to the mandatory assignment can be written in either Norwegian or English (if you write in Norwegian, Matematikkr?dets mathematical dictionary may be useful).
If you submit a scanned copy of a handwritten solution, then that will usually be easier for Erik and me to read if you write on blank paper rather than paper with lines or a grid, so blank paper is preferable (but not formally required).

The first mandatory assignment is now published and available here. This is to be submitted in Canvas, with submission deadline Thursday 30 Sep, 14:30.

You can now vote for exercises you would like to see on Friday. You can also find the poll in the schedule, and you should look there for future polls as well.

The exercise sessions will roughly be organized as follows:
Part 1 (mainly before the break). I wil do exercises on the blackboard, and remind you of the most important definitions/results from the previous week. You can tell me which exercises you would like me to do and/or I choose some that I think are nice.
Part 2 (mainly after the break). Individual help where you can ask questions.
I will try to tell you in advance if there is a change in plans. Don't hesitate to send me an e-mail if you have any questions. Here are some common ones:
Frequently asked questions:
- Q: When are the exercise sessions?
A: See the schedule! (Fridays at 10:15 is the rule, but there are some exceptions.) - Q: Should I look at the exercises before the session?
A: Yes, at least if you want to get something out of part 1. - Q: Do I have to suf...
Starting with today's lecture, recordings of lectures will appear on the schedule page directly after each lecture.
