The Department of Mathematics wishes to continuously evaluate both form and the content of its courses.

That is why the Student Council at the Department of Mathematics conducts each semester an evaluation of some courses given at the Department.

These evaluations are a great help to the Department, and we hope that as many of you as possible can take time to respond (it takes approximately 5 min to respond). Click here to enter the form.

I've added some solutions to the practice problem set here

(Note: These are not intended to be perfect solutions - on the exam you might need to provide more details and explanation to get full marks).

I've added a few practice questions for the exam here.

Update: Corrected the missing `x' in Problem 2.

I will give one more revision lecture tomorrow at the usual time and place (i.e., Tuesday Nov 28th, 10:15-12:00 in Auditorium 5 VB). I plan to cover the following topics:

  • Evaluations of complex and real integrals using residue theory
  • Open mapping theorem and the Inverse theorem

In the revision lectures I will try to cover the following topics:

Open mapping theorem
Liouville's theorem
Argument principle
Conformal mappings
Power and Laurent series expansions
Rouche's theorem
Inverse Mapping theorem
Exp/Log/Root functions
Computations with the Residue theorem
Isolated singularities
Fourier series
Complex integration and Cauchy's theorem

Hi,

I have uploaded the solutions plus some notes about common mistakes for the 2nd mandatory assignment. You can see here

This time there are many students who did quite well. Good luck for the final exam!

I plan to cover the sections on periodic functions and Fourier series this week, and then move on to the repetition lectures next week. Before that, it would be helpful to have some idea of which topics you would like to see covered form the course. Please fill in the following doodle:

Also, feel free to use the `comments' section if you have any specific requests or general comments on the course. (You do not need to fill in your name in the doodle).

I will also try to put out a complete list of the curriculum for the course later this week.

Dear all,

For the mandatory assignment 2, some of you got feedbacks in the box and some got a PDF file. It was informed to me that when you have a PDF file then you should open by a computer, not a cellphone, in order to see the comments.

Best,

Tuyen
