The curriculum is as follows:
Sections
0-6, 8-11, 13-16, 18-19, 20 (up to Theorem 20.8), 21-23, 26, 27(except
prime fields), 29-30, 31 (up to 31.17), 36-37, 45, 48 (up to Example
48.17), 49-50, 53 (except for finite
fields).
It might be a little shorter, depending on how far we get in Galois
theory, so parts of section 53 may be taken out.

I have written a few pages about the Galois correspondence. They are raw and quickly written, but hopefully they will be of use for you.

In problem 3 the groups A and B should be of relatively prime order,

There is a misprint in problem 27 c) and 27 d) on Ark5. The term of degree one should be of degree two.

They should all be corrected.
Those which have not there assignment accepted, has a deadline for a second try on thursday 27. march at 14:30.

In problem 3 there is a "2" which should be "e"
Geir
There also a misprint in 2e in the mandatory assignment.

There was a small misprint and a formulation that was not completely clear.

The problems for the mandatory assignment are on the web!

Today, Monday 17. februaray, I the exercises indicated on the Ark and
I did the rest of section 14, and section 15.
On Friday may be I say a few words about commutators and then centre. Then we do section 16.
Section 17 is not part of the curriculum.
We then leave the groups for some time and start on Part IV, Rings and fields.

Yesterday I finished theorem 9.8 about representing a permutation as a product of disjoint cycles. In addition I did some small things about the number of k-cycles and the order of a composition of cycles.
I also did the exercises indicated on Ark2.
On friday we shall do even and odd permutations, the alternating groups and proceed with section 10. That lecture will be given by Nadia Larsen - I'll will go to a funeral.
For norwegian speakers I have also posted some notes about permutations.

On Ark 2 exercise 33 figures two places. It should be replaced by exercise 32 on Wednesday, Feb 12.

A student forgot his red gym bag at the drop in group this morning, and when he came back to fetch it, it had disappeared. Can anybody help him?
Geir
Ark2 is on the web!
On Friday I did Section 5 about subgroups and started on Section 6 about cyclic groups. To day I'll finish that section (hopefully).
Geir
On Monday I'll do the following exercises on the board:
14, 17, 20, 26, 28 and 30.
All from Ark1.
To day during the lecture I'll do the exercises 27 and 29 as part of the theory.
