You can check that your mandatory exercises have been approved in Canvas. If there is something wrong, then please let me know as soon as possible.
An updated list for the syllabus is provided here. Please note that the lecture notes contain all the material that I believe is most important.
I will release a trial exam tomorrow morning, before the group session. A suggested solution will be released next week.
In week 45 there will be no lecture, but instead group sessions on both Monday and Friday, where you can work on the mandatory assignment or other weekly assignments.
Monday 13/11 I will have my last lecture with new material: "time-dependent variational forms". The last chapter of the original syllabus (chapter 9 of Introduction to numerical methods for variational problmes) will not be covered and is removed from the syllabus.
The second mandatory assignment has been released.
Just a small hint. If you struggle to get test_convergence_wave2d to pass, then you may need to run one additional timestep.
can be found in the lecture notes.
Unfortunately, I cannot attend the group session on Friday. So, please feel even more free than usual to ask for my help in my office, on mail, or (preferably) on the issue tracker for the mandatory assignment or the lecture notes.
Some assignments can be found in the lecture notes.
Chapters 1.10, 2.7 and 2.10 are out. The only chapters from Finite Difference Computing with PDEs are thus
1.1, 1.2, 1.4
2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 2.11
Note that it is much more important to read and understand the lecture notes than the syllabus from this PDE book.
Please note that new lecture note notebooks will be published in the repository: https://github.com/MATMEK-4270/matmek4270-book
and not the old one: https://github.com/MATMEK-4270/matmek4270-notebooks
This week I am part of a workshop on space physics and we have 12 Japanese students and scientists visiting.
Since I need to cancel the group session I have released a suggested solution to this weeks assignment.
I have added some suggested answers in the answers branch on the matmek4270-projects repository.
I have created a new repository used to hold notebooks that are being used in lectures.
See assignment on this page.
Note that the assignments are not mandatory.
