In the lectures we have basically covered all the material in the book from the beginning to Section 10.2.1 (included).

However, you are not expected to have detailed knowledge of Sections 4.3.3, 6.3, and 7.6.

There is no session for exercises this week, since May 1 is a holiday. To compensate for this you are asked to work on the following Exercises yourselves.

Exercise 8.5, 8.6, 8.8, 8.10, 8.11, 8.13, 8.14, 8.17, 8.18

Espen will put out a note with suggested solutions during the week.

To get condition (5) you need to (among other things) use the Taylor series expansion of the sine function. Note that there is a way to simplify condition (5) by either multiplying out the brackets and argue why you can drop the higher order term, or by just considering the Taylor series expansion of the sine function squared. If you would rather show this simpler condition, and later test it in exercise (g), then that would be fine.
