I hope the exam went well. The solutions for the exam is here. The grades should be available towards the end of next week. Have a nice summer!
The syllabus consists of all those sections listed in the lecture plan. Note that from Chapter 10, this only includes 10.1 and 10.2. (Nothing from Chapter 11). The last two lecture notes are now published. Sorry for being so late on this.
GOOD LUCK ON THE EXAM!! I will be there after about 1 hour, if there are questions.
On May 26, Erlend will go through solution for the exam 2007, and answer questions!
Good luck on the exam!
The final lecture was today, May 10. See the plan for remaining classes: only May 12 (exercises) and May 26 for questions (same room). For other questions on exercises, you may contact Erlend (by email or in his office).
Good luck on the exam! I will come 1 hour after the start, in case you have some questions. Regards, Geir.
A correction in the solution of the exam from 2015; thanks to Kristine for pointing this out: In 1c) when one inserts u(x,t)=X(x)T(t) into the eq., one gets T'/T=X''/(X-X'')=lambda. This gives X''=(lambda/(1+lambda))X, from which one gets the solution u as described in the exam solutions.
The lecture starts 09.15 on Tuesday April 19. I will lecture 09.15-10.30 (no break). This is due to a traveling.
The second (and final) mandatory assignment is here. The deadline for delivery is April 15.: /studier/emner/matnat/math/MAT-INF3360/v16/oblig2_2016.pdf
No lecture on March 8 due to the ?pen Dag (VB-rooms used for other lectures). But class on Thursday March 10 as usual. Next week, both lecture and class as usual.
Student representatives in the course are Anna Piterskaya (Email: annapit@student.matnat.uio.no) and Bendik Sandvik (Email: bendik.a.sandvik@gmail.com).
A copy of the Tveito/Winther PDE book was found on Tuesday; a name is written in the book, and the right person can contact Geir D. (geird@math.uio.no) and get it back.
Note that there are two mandatory assignments. The first has deadline February 4, see this page. (The deadlines indicated elsewhere on this webpage will be updated). Assignment 1/studier/emner/matnat/math/MAT-INF3360/v16/oblig1_2016.pdf
Welcome to this course in partial differential equations (PDE)! We start with lectures Jan. 19 (and even on Jan 21. there will be lecture). You will learn about some basic PDE's, some applications, how to solve these equations, and properties of the solutions. Both analytical and numerical solution approaches are treated, and their relations.
