Most likely schedule:
Lecture 1: Monday 05/11 - 10:00-12:00 – room V114 - Introduction to XPS/general principles/spectrum interpretation Lecture 2: Tuesday 06/11 - 10:00-12:00 – room V114 - Instrumentation.Lecture 3: Wednesday 07/11 - 10:00-12:00 - room V130 - Planning experiments and data processing.Lecture 4: Friday 09/11 - 10:00-12:00 - room V114 - ApplicationsLab demonstration: Tuesday 13/11 - in the MiNaLab building.Offline Data Processing: Thursday 15/11 -from 10:00 -> 12.00- room ?186This module is meant to introduce the students to the instrumentation and theory of XPS, the most widely used method in surface analysis. It will contain theory and application within a framework that includes a problem solving approach to complex real world systems. The course is divided into: formal lecture material, teamwork based problem set assignments, laboratory work and off line data processingMaterial to be covered: ? Instrumentation.? Basic theory for X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy? Applications: thin films, catalysis, corrosion, adhesion, semiconductors polymers, photovoltaics, fuel cells are some indicative material fields.Material: Material will be posted in Fronter (https://fronter.com/uio/) or distributed during the lectures.Evaluation: Passed/failed based upon written laboratory reports.Time and Place: Weeks 45-47.Laboratory work: This will be done in collaboration with SINTEF.Useful References:? 1.
