Message for the 6 students that showed up at the first lecture in KJM 5250
Please start using Google Scholar and SciFinder to figure out what nmr-solvents to use for the molecules you have been informed about. I expect to have suggestions from all of you - based on published literature by next Monday at 1200. There is limited amounts of some of the molecules 100 ug for one of them and there is little room for trying and failing. You will be given the job to remove a wrong solvent by freeze drying or evaporating it on a very clean rotavapor - cleaned by you. I will try to mix the samples next Tuesday. We will not have a lecture this week and not next week since there is teaching today and are exams in KJM-MENA 4010 module one on Monday next week - that is the weekday I prepare for lectures for the coming Tuesday.
But we will start the Lab course next week at 0900 Thursday February 11th.
Goals:
1. Everyone log in on DRX500, AVI600 and AVII600
2. Acquire 1H and 13C spectra
3. Learn topshim gui, atma, atmm on the two 600s and manual shimming and manual tuning and matching on DRX500.
4. Configure Topspin on the instrument you are working. Since you rotate between the three instruments this will be completed after the third lab.
5. Maybe doing DEPT and APT spectra.
