Course content
The seminar introduces the concept of security in operating system and software, and gives a brief overview of applications of cryptography. Main subjects are vulnerabilites and malicious software, and techniques for mitigating these threats.
Learning outcome
The seminar intends to give an understanding of the principles of securing a computer system. These include insight in security policies, mechanisms and vulnerabilities in operating system and software. The seminar will also give insight into methods for development and test of security in software.

Teaching
2hrs lectures and 1hr exercise/lab per week
Examination
Written exam will be given if the number of candidates is high, otherwise the exam is oral.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
Explanations and appeals
Resit an examination
Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester.
Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
