INF2120 – Project in Modeling
Course description
Course content
The core of the course is a fairly large modeling exercise that the students will solve in project groups of 3 to 5 persons.
Learning outcome
The students should learn that modeling large systems requires abstraction and extensive cooperation. The students will document their model from different perspectives with diagrams of UML.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
In addition to fulfilling the Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
- Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)
The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about special admission requirements (in Norwegian).
Overlapping courses
4 credits overlap with IN 114/IN 114A
Teaching
2 hours lecturing at least every second week and 2 hours exercises every week. The project is considered a series of obligatory exercises defined as 'drops'.
The group walkthroughs of the project drops are also considered compulsory.
Examination
Each drop of the project must be accepted. Each individual student may be specially questioned in the contents of the drop.

Grades are awarded on a pass/fail scale. Read more about the grading system.

Resit an examination
This subject does not offer new examination in the beginning of the subsequent term for candidates who withdraw during an ordinary examination or fail an ordinary examination. First lecture has compulsory attendance. The group walkthroughs of the project drops are also considered compulsory.
