Hello splendid students of IN5370!

A kind reminder that in tomorrow's session, we will discuss the IN5370 exam, its structure and some tips for your preparation. For those of you who wish to practice a bit, I have also made some exam-type questions that we can use for this.

See you tomorrow, all the best!

Hello everyone!

It was a splendid guest lecture with our very own Katherine Wyers on Tuesday. Big thanks for a splendid discussion on digital infrastructures and trans* equity, which we will come back to as we continue exploring ICTs and global inequalities!

Some of you have asked where can you find more work and publications from Katherine, including papers from her PhD. Her website, https://katherinewyers.com/, contains an open-access repository of her publications so far.

Also a kind reminder that Katherine will visit Oslo around 18 November, to defend her PhD thesis. If you are writing on topics related to her research, please do reach out to her for a coffee conversation!

All the best,

Silvia

Hello! :-)

A warm welcome to IN5370, "ICT and Global Inequalities". In this course we will explore the relationship between ICT and socio-economic inequalities on a global scale, guided by the question on how such inequalities are produced and what can be done to overcome them. In our journey we will explore the widespread diffusion of digitally-induced harm and injustice stemming from ICTs including digital ID, biometric border controls and tools of data violence, and explore different paths to overcoming such injustices.

The course is assessed with a take-home exam to be submitted after the end of the course. Essential readings are available in the course schedule, which offers also an overview of the themes of the course. A full pensum is available here.
