Homework/preparation for the next lecture (April 16th)

We will have a hands-on demonstration and exercise with the functionality available for researchers in helsedata.no. 

As preparation we ask you to imagine that you are planning a research study (see below). You will use the helsedata.no platform to apply for access to the health care data you need for your research study. Prepare for the lecture by thinking through how you will design your study and which data you will need.

ASSIGNMENT:  You wish to study the lifespan of patient who have been treated at hospital for ischemic heart conditions (I20-I25) the last 10 years, including the treatment they received and their medication use.

• How will you define the study population and the sample?
• Which health registries (data sources) do you think will contain relevant data?
• Which health data sources and which data collections will you start from?
• Which variables in the data source/sources are relevant to apply for?
• Do these variables contain data for the period you are after?

Make some notes, using your own terms, and be prepared to share your suggestions in class.
