Title: How to build a large scale distributed transactional database system in production?
Speaker: Sverre Sundsdal
Abstract:
Google Percolator is a large scale distributed transactional database with notifications. It powers Google's web indexing system. Percolator is built on top of BigTable which is google's distributed NoSQL database. Percolator achieved a 50% reduction in the delay between page crawling and page availability in the search index in comparison to the MapReduce based batch processing system that it replaced. This talk is a walkthrough of the design and implementation of Percolator and BigTable. If you are interested in reflections and experiences building such systems please come and ask questions.
Speaker's short bio:
Sverre Sundsdal is a former Google engineer and member of the web indexing team. He worked as a technical leader in global companies like Schibsted and Telenor and built many software and platform products serving hundreds of millions of users in several countries. Currently, he is working as a CTO in Lexolve, a legal-tech startup in Oslo. ?
