Virtual Machines for Monday 19th Feb Workshop

Hi All,

We will be using a couple of virtual machines Monday afternoon. The link and some instructions for setup have been uploaded to canvas.
You can view this at the top of the course page under the module named Virtual Machines

The names of the VMs are:

• Security Onion
• Cyberops Workstation

There is a guide for setting them up. If you have any questions beforehand or a link is broken please email me at roberac@ifi.uio.no
I will go through setup in the lecture if needed but I recommend trying to install beforehand.

!!! For those using M1 macbooks !!!: The virtual machines are X86 only. You may be able to emulate them (I have uploaded a youtube link) but I cannot guarantee good performance. I recommend teaming up with someone if your macbook cannot run the VM.

I will setup some machines in the security lab on the 9th floor of IFI for those students who are using M1 Macbooks and want to practice after the workshop. I'll explain this better during Monday's session :)
