IN2150 – IT in Organizations
Course description
Course content
In this course you'll learn how organisations handle information systems.?The teaching is based on students working with external organizations and analyzing specific examples from the private and public sectors. As a student, you will develop the ability to critically evaluate how organizations and their users handle information systems.
Learning outcome
After taking this course you'll:
- have knowledge of the use of IT in organizations and the interaction between digital technology and work;
- have insight into practical challenges related to information systems in organizations and to common information infrastructures for multiple organizations/sectors;
- have knowledge about how organizations handle the interaction between old and new systems, integration and standardization;
- be able to plan and conduct an analysis of multiple contiguous information systems in an organization;
- be able to identify reasons for complexity;
- be able to critically reflect on the handling and management of information systems and information infrastructure;

Special admission requirements
In addition to fulfilling the?Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)
The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about?special admission requirements?(in Norwegian).
Overlapping courses
- 10 credits overlap with INF3290 – Store og komplekse informasjonssystemer (continued).
Teaching
2 hours of lectures each week and 2 hours of group seminars each week.
There will be a project assignment/group work that must be approved prior to the?Final home exam.
Examination
Final home exam which counts 100% towards the final grade.The project assignment must be approved prior to taking the?Final home exam,?and it must be approved in the same semester.
It will also be counted as one of?your three?attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses:?INF3290 - Store og komplekse informasjonssystemer (continued)
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.
Resit an examination
Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are?offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester. Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
