GEO4440 – Water Resources Management
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
The course provides practice in the use and management of water resources primarily in Norway. Topics covered:
? Legislation on water resource management
? Responsible institutions in Norwegian management
? Use of watercourses for power developments and water supplies
? Emergency preparedness and apportionment of responsibility during dangerous overflows. Flood warning. Flood zone mapping and planning of land use. Erosion and prevention.
? Securing of groundwater reservoirs
? Impact analysis of multi-use of water resources
? International forums of which Norway is a member
Learning outcome
Students will have a foundation for carrying out specialist management work.
