GEF4620 – Numerical solutions of oceanographic problems
Course description
Course content
Finite difference approximations, numerical methods for solving partial differential equations, numerical stability, and numerical treatment of open boundaries. Emphasis is on applications to oceanic flows.
Learning outcome
Based on knowledge in fluid mechanics the students shall be able to obtain numerical solutions of the equations for particular types of motion in the ocean.
Admission
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.
If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.
