Dear all, welcome back to FYS4480.
Please note that the lecture on Thursday will be via zoom only. I am unfortunately in a series of zoom meetings most of Thursday and decided thus to work from home. The Friday lecture will however be in person as usual. I hope this does not cause any problems to you.

The topics this week focus on the infinite electron gas in three dimensions and how to calculate the Hartree-Fock energy (analytical expression) and the ground state energy (analytical expression again). The latter plays an important role in density functional theory. This is a topic we cover right after we have discussed the electron gas.
