There should be pi-vector instead of p-vector in eq. (4)
The problems for the Mid Term Exam 2013 are now available from this web page
Next week (week number 40, 30th of sept until friday the 4th of october, it will be Mid term exam.
The problems will be available at the web late friday afternoon the 27th of september.
There will be no lectures or exercises that week.
Solutions to problems 4-8 are available.
New problems 9 and 10 are available
Next week there will be lectures monday and tuesday (on the S-matrix expansion) and exercises on friday.
Problems for the exercises as well as solutions for the previous ones will be available monday before lunch
Next week;- 16-20 sept. there will be lectures on monday the 16th.
I will talk about quantization of the free Maxwell field. Further on the interaction bethween Dirac and Maxwell fields, and on the Schr?dinger-, Heisenberg-, and Interaction pictures.
There will be exercices on tuesday the 17th AND friday the 20th.
New problems and solutions to previous problems will be put on this web-page before lunch on monday the 16th
JOE
Next week (37) there will on monday and tuesday be (further) lectures on quantization of free fields.
Friday there will be exercises: problem 2, and 3- and maybe further 4 and 5 (problems 4 and 5 are now available at this web-page)
Week 36, monday 2. to friday 6. of sept , there will be lectures moday, tuesday AND friday.
I will continue on lagrangian theories for fields, Noethers theorem and after that : Quantization of free fields
Next week (week 35;. 26-30th august) there will be lectures monday, tuesday AND friday. I will continue with the Dirac equation -and the Klein Gordon equation. Then I will talk about Noethers theorem (-the connection between symmetries and conservation laws)
The textbook for the course is:
Franz Mandl and Graham Shaw:
"Quantum field theory" (Wiley; ISBN 978-0-471-49684-7)
This book has a Appendix A devoted to properties of the Dirac equation, Dirac matrices etc.
In addition to the problems in Problem 1 and Problem 2, do the following small exercises:
Given equations (16) and (17) in the "Dirac-note", show that eqs in (14) are satisfied and that these anticommutation relations implies that (13) follows from (11).
Prove also (22) and (23) (NB: Note comment between (7) and (8) )
There will be lecture(s) monday the 19th of august 12.15-14
These will be a little general info, and then on the Dirac equation (-the "relativistic Schr?dinger equation")
There will be exercises (Problems 1 and 2 ;- see net page) friday the 23rd of august 12.15-14.
There will be no lectures on tuesday the 20th of august.
The next two weeks , monday 26th of august until friday the 6th of september, there will be lectures mondays, tuesdays AND fridays.
There will normally be lectures on monday and tuesday, and exercises on friday. But there will be exception from this "rule",
especially the first three weeks of the course.
Lectures will given by Jan Olav Eeg and exercises by Larissa Bravina
The lectures and exercises will be given in english,
-unless there are only norwegian-speakers present
