Fagl?rere

We are required to arrange a meeting to evaluate the course. It has to be after the exam, so that this can also be evaluated.  I thought that the simplest is if we have it just after the exam finishes, so the meeting will be in the usual lecture room (LilleFy) on Wednesday December 5. at 13:15. It should not last very long time, but 30 min passes very fast in my experience. I hope that many of you will have time to come, it is very useful for us to understand what works well with a course, and what should be changed.

This week we will have the problem solving class on Monday (26/11) 12-14 as usual (Problem set 13).

Tuesday (17/11) and Wednesday (28/11) we will have no regular teaching, but I will come to the usual room at the usual time, 10:15 and answer questions/discuss problems.

Otherwise, do not hesitate to come to my office (FV405) to discuss whatever problems you need help with.

The results of the midterm exam are now posted on the webpage. Each question was given a maximal score of 5 points. You can find your score for each problem, and the total (maximal score was 70). If you believe there are mistakes, please tell me.

Students taking FYS9110 have to deliver written solutions to an additional homework project on the geometry of quantum states (chapter 5 in the lecture notes). The problems are available here (in Norwegian only, please tell if some need it in English), and should be handed in on November 20. at the very latest (but I am happy if I get them earlier).

For problem l) it should have been stated that the given formula for delta z_pc only is valid when alpha is sufficiently large. That is, the formula is not exact, but only an approximation in the limit of large alpha (the exact condition is included in the new version of the problem text which I will post on the web page now).
