Solutions for Problem Set 9 has been posted (last problem set).

The last lecture this semester is November 29.

The dates for the final exam are December 10 and December 11.

Results for the midterm exam are posted on the course page.

There is no lecture Thursday, November 15.

An updated version of Chapter 1 has (somewhat delayed) been posted.

There are no major changes in the text, but a few corrections and minor rewritings in the text at some places.

Midterm evaluation

Please fill in the form MidtermEval07.pdf and return it at the lecture Thursday Nov. 1 or Tuesday Nov. 6.

Solutions to the problems of the midterm exam are posted on the course page.

Note: Student number (kandidat nummer) rather than student names should be used for the returned solutions of the midterm exam.

Midterm Exam:

The problem set is available on the course page from Friday, October 19.

The deadline for returning solutions is Friday, October 26.

Solutions should be returned to the Ekspedisjonskontoret in the Physics Building.

Note: There will be lectures as usual this week (Oct. 9 and 11). During the week with the midterm exam there will be no teaching (Oct. 23 and 25).

Remember the weekly problem sets!! This week: Problem set 6 is homework.

Problem 5.1: Some of the expressions in the problem text were not fully correct. See the solutions.

Dates for the final exam:

The final exam, which is an oral exam, will take place over two days in December. The dates will be settled this week after discussion at the lectures, and two avoid collisions with other exams I would like to ask for response concerning the two suggestions: Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 or Thursday 6 and Friday 7.

If any of these suggestions is difficult due to collisions with other exams, please let me know. Note that since the exam is over two days this gives a certain flexibility.

The midterm exam is scheduled for Week 43, October 19-26. This is a written home exam.

Please consult the weekly program of the course under "Detaljert undervisningsplan".

The first weekly set of exercises, ProblemSet1.pdf, is available. Solutions will be posted on the course page next week. In the following weekly exercises will be posted on this page.

The final exam will be an oral exam.

The midtterm exam will have the form of a problem set for homework, to be returned within one week.
