Lecture, Wednesday 25/3 at 10:15
We are trying to adapt to online lecturing, and I intend to make a trial of interactive lecture on the usual lecture time, 10:15 on Wednesday 25/3. We will use the Zoom application (see this page for help
/english/services/it/phone-chat-videoconf/zoom/). This allows listening to the lecture, and should be accessible through any browser, or better by installing the app. In addition to listening, it also allows you to interact with the lecturer, asking questions, giving feedback etc. This is the first time I try this system, and I hope many of you will participate and test the various features, so we can learn how to teach without having normal classes. In addition, I will provide the slides on the webpage, and I will try to record the lecture and upload it, so it can be viewed later. To be allowed to record, I have to inform you about the following:
- that UiO is recording the lecture, and that all questions from “the floor” will be a part of the recording. Those that do not want to be a part of the recording can be encouraged to send questions via email.
- the reason for taking the recording is tho give you the chance to listen to it later
- the recording will be saved for an unlimited time
- the recording will be linked at the course webpage
- there is no protection of the recording, so it will in principle be accessible to everyone
- the legal basis for processing (Privacy Regulation art. 6 nr. 1 bokstav e, cf. University and University Colleges Act, Section 1-3)
I do not think you should be scared by these legal issues. You will by default not appear either in audio or video, so unless you choose it, you will not be visible in any way. It also means that if you want to ask a question or call my attention during the lecture, you actively have to enable audio and video if you want me to hear/see you.
I will post the details of the zoom meeting that are needed to join the lecture later (Tuesday afternoon, I expect).
I hope this will work so that you are still able to study more or less like normal. If you have additional questions/comments, either before or after the lectures, you can send e-mail (jbergli@fys.uio.no) and I can try to write an answer or arrange zoom meetings to discuss.
Best regards, and hope to "see" you in the lecture on Wednesday.
