Dear all, we will have a brief summary lecture, with discussion of the final exam this coming Tuesday, 12.15pm at Lille Fys Auditorium.
Dear all, we have moved the deadline for the final project to December 8 at noon. You can hand in a printed version, including your code at the reception of the department of physics (room FV128), see the box marked FYS3150/4150.
If you do not wish to print out, you can leave us a message with the link to a dropbox or github address where we can find your report and code. Please state your candidate number.
All projects have now been revised and can be found at the webpage of the course.
The final astronomy project is now available at the webpage. If you opt for this project, you should also include your report on project 3 on the solar system in your final project. You will also need the function gaussiandeviate.cpp.
Project 4, for those of you who prefer to work with various projects, is now available. The deadline is November 10.
We have posted two alternatives to project 3. These projects form a longer project that absorbs projects 3-5. They will be discussed partly at the lab during weeks 40 and 41 and as separate sessions during week 41. One of the projects is a quantum mechanical project based on the variational Monte Carlo method, with reading material from chapters 11, 12 and 14 in the lecture notes. The other project is a Molecular dynamics project which used differential equations to solve a system of many argon atoms on a lattice structure. The physics behind this system will be discussed during week 41.
Project three about the solar system is now available. The relevant literature can be found in chapter 8 of the lecture notes.
You will find both the PDF file and the latex source file. You can use the latter for making your own report.
1) Project 1 has deadline September 8
2) Project 2 has deadline September 29
3) Project 3 has deadline October 20
4) Project 4 has deadline November 3
5) The final project, nr 5, has deadline December 1.
The schedule is now available, please check that your name and choice are displayed correctly. If your name is missing, please just send an email to Morten. The lab schedule is at /studier/emner/matnat/fys/FYS3150/h14/undervisningsmateriale/lab2014.html
