1) The passing grade of the assignments is 60 out of 100.

2) You will receive feedback and solutions for the assignments. For the numerical project, you will receive feedback but no solution (as it is a mini research report and there is no standard solution).

3) I will provide some previous exams at the beginning of December, there will be no solutions to those exams.

4) If you have concerns of using the Google Drive, or troubles of accessing the file on the Google folder, please let me know. All materials will be ALSO updated on the course webpage upon some student/s request.

5) The change of the Numerical Project deadline was intended for you to not having too many deadlines at the end of November, and the date is chosen based on the majority votes on Doodle. The change was published on the course website (Sep. 16), is correct on Devilry, and now also on the updated project description file. I do hope t...

I have updated the Numerical Project description and uploaded in the Google Drive, hope it can clarify some things. The new texts are marked with red colour.

I got some feedback regarding the numerical project and would like to provide some clarifications:

1) The file AST4320_NumericalProject.pdf is the main project description for the tasks you need to do, and the file AST4320_NumericalProjectnotes.pdf is a document in case you need some help on linux commands, halo finders and the pynbody analysis code, etc. The second file does not contains tasks or assignments, it is served as a "reference guide" if you need help. By design, there is no one-to-one correspondence between the items on the two files. However, please do read both files carefully to understand how to use the simulation code, IC generators, halo finder softwares, and pynbody. For example, the location of the user manual for MUSIC IC generator is in /mn/stornext/u3/robertwi/AST4320test, which contains a detailed explanation of what each parameter means in the parameter file, how to run the code etc.

2) In AST4320_Num...

The deadline for the numerical project is moved to Monday November 4 according to the Doodle pool. I have also moved the deadline for Assignment 2 from Friday Nov. 8 to Sunday, Nov 10 so that you have more time to work on it.

Good luck!

I have decided to uploaded the first assignment and the numerical project a bit earlier than what I told you during the lecture, so that you can have more time to work on them. They are now on the Google drive.

Also the group teacher will provide a lot of help on the assignments and the project during the group sessions (which starts this week), so please attend them. :)

Good luck!
