Graders for the 4-hour examination was Maria Lundberg andIngvill Thorson Plesner. Students may contact one of them in order to have the result and/or grounds for the grade. Candidates can send an e-mail or phone.(i.t.plesner@nchr.uio.no22842087,maria.lundberg@nchr.uio.no 22842014). Students must ask for grounds and/or grading result within one week after the posting of the grading result.

Rescheduling

The lecture on 9 March will take place 6 March 13-16.00 at the NCHR seminar room (Court Adelers gt.30). The lectures on 6 and 7 March are lecture 7 and lecture 8 on your Course outline. You will find cases and documents on Fronter.

Message to the students

Lecture on 1 February 2012:

  • 1. We will start with a review of the Sahin case prepared by the students.
  • 2. We will discuss group rights and the limits to autonomy in relation both to the freedom of religion and belief and with respect to minority rights.
  • 3. Please read the two new cases (Metropolitan Church and Lovelace cases)for the discussion in class. These cases and the general comment on the rights of minorities are available in the reception of the NCHR.
  • 4. Please consult the lecture outline for further readings.See you next Wednesday!

Please see the links for cases to read and prepare, posted under detailed teaching plan.Please read the Sahin case as main case for the lecture. The Lautsi case is the supporting case. The Sahin case and part of the readings which are not yet available in the library can be found in the reception at the NCHR. Please prepare your short presentations on the basis of the casis from last lecture.

HUMR5508: Human Rights and Diversity - Leading Cases Spring 2012(Instructors: Maria Lundberg and Ingvill T. Plessner): Lecture 1 on Wednesday 11 January 2012: Please prepare the first lecture by reading the following materials. Focus on the main case and the general comment. You should also have a look at the supplementary case, but more superficially.
