Lecture 7 12 February

Dear Students,

The theme for the seventh lecture in the methodology course¡ªon Friday (12.02)¡ªis ¡®Qualitative method¡¯. Departing from Landman¡¯s rather scant references (2006: 71-74) and my own research experiences I will look into issues like (participant) observation; open, closed and semi-structured interviews, focus group interviews, reliability and relevance of data obtained in these ways, and generally, how ¡®in qualitative studies the ongoing process of questioning is an integral part of understanding the unfolding lives and perspectives of others¡¯¡ªbut with a purpose.

Questions and discussions are welcome; if you like you may also prepare questions beforehand so that we can start with the concerns these questions raise.
