HUMR5100 – Thesis: Development of Project
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
In this course you begin to independently develop your thesis project. This requires you to conduct research on your own by finding and consulting relevant materials. In the second week of the course, your developing project will be discussed in mandatory classes (nine 45-minute sessions). At the end of the course you will have developed your thesis project into a three-page paper that succinctly states your thesis problem and general background, a bibliography of relevant sources, and a tentative outline. This paper will be the basis of assigning to you a thesis advisor and of the succeeding thesis course, HUMR5110 – Thesis: Formal Presentations (discontinued).
Learning outcome
You are expected in this course to develop, discuss, and tentatively finalize the topic and theme of your thesis project. The three-page paper will enable you to synthesize your problem and will provide a basis for appointing an appropriate thesis advisor.
