Assignment in preparation for the course

Dear students in Gender Equality in the Nordic Countries,

Welcome to an interesting and intense summer!

As you may have seen in the course description, one of the mandatory requirements in order to take the exam is: two mandatory oral presentations on a topic decided by the teacher. Written versions of both presentations must be submitted before the presentations are given in class.

Assignment in preparation for the course:

In preparation for the course, I invite you to prepare one of the presentations you will give in class. Please write one page about the gender equality situation in your country.

You may choose one of the following topics:

• Equality law
• Equality institution
• Gender studies at university
• Women¡¯s rights to:
  • Majority
  • Own money
  • Education
  • Contraception
  • Abortion
  • Equal before the law
  • Right to choose whom to love
  • Political participation
  • Paid work
• Sexual minority rights
• Ethnic minority rights

If there are such rights: how did this come about?

If no such rights: Why?

You are expected to finish and hold the presentation during the summer, when you¡¯ll have the relevant texts available.
