MCT4031 – Applied MCT Project 1
Course description
Course content
The aim of the course is to carry out a music technological project in a real-world setting. The problem at hand may be of a non-musical nature, and will require the students to apply their music technological knowledge in new and creative ways.
Learning outcome
Having completed the course the student will:
- be able to plan and carry out a real-world project with a group of other students.
- be able to understand the problem at hand and develop a solution to the problem.
- have hands-on experience with working in an interdisciplinary team and reporting to an external partner.
- be able to reflect on the development process.
Admission

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Admission to the master's programme Music, Communication and Technology.
Completion of the course MCT4000 - Introduction to Music, Communication and Technology
Teaching
The projects will be carried out in cross-campus teams:
- Introductory seminar during which the problems are defined in dialogue with the external partners.
- Development phase with supervision.
- Weekly seminars for presentation of progress.
Examination
Group trial lecture?(50%)?
In the trial lecture the group demonstrates the solution to the problem and the project outcomes. The trial lecture is organised as of 20 minutes presentations followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussions.
Individual term paper (50%)?
The individual report summarizes the groupwork, details the individual contribution, and includes personal reflections on the project work. The body of the report should not exceed 2000 words. The individual report should be submitted in the digital examination system Inspera.

Use of sources and citation
You should familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to the use of sources and citations. If you violate the rules, you may be suspected of cheating/attempted cheating.

English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.

Withdrawal from an examination
It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.

Evaluation
The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.
