Dear all,

We have prepared a template for your term paper to help you write a project-description that meets the requirements for the term-paper in JOUR4000. This template describes what should be included in the different sections in your project description.

If your temporary supervisor has not already contacted you, he or she will do so within the next few days.

Good luck!

Dear all,

I have slightly revised the instructions for the mandatory activity, assignment 1. Originally you were asked to include a list of the complete self-selected literature in assignment 1. The revision is that you need to include a list of at least 5 journal articles (included in the original instructions for the mandatory activity) though you can now choose to include the list of the complete selected literature in the term paper instead of in the mandatory activity.

The revision is in line with what I answered when the question came up on one of the lectures.

Sorry for the mixed messages!

Best wishes,
Marika

Hi all,

In assignment 1 (mandatory activity) you are asked to do a brief review of literature. In the review you need to focus on the research questions/hypotheses commonly asked, yet how do you actually write a literature review? A couple of handy resources could be the following:

http://library.bcu.ac.uk/learner/writingguides/1.04.htm

Good luck!

Dear all,

The deadline for submitting the mandatory activity is 4th of October at 15:00. The Mandatory activity-folder where you submit your assignments has now been included in Fronter.

Good luck and cheers,
Marika

Dear all,

You'll find all the teaching resources you need for the Academic writing seminar in Fronter (see folder "Academic writing" in Arkiv/Archive in Fronter).

For 12th of September you need to bring 3 paper copies of a 2-page paper (see document "Writing Lab Exercise-Mevit4000-Fall2017.pdf"). You may consider this your first version of your outline for your master's thesis idea (assignment 1 in the mandatory activity), but no need to despair if you still feel completely lost in terms ideas for your thesis. You still have time to play with and try out different ideas. OK?

These are the guidelines for your 2-page sample paper (see "Writing Lab Exercise-Mevit4000-Fall2017.pdf"):

For your sample paper, describe and defend your project. That is, you will need to

  1. give a summary / overview your project (1-2 paragraphs), with relevant elaboration o...

The academic writing course (12th and 13th of September) is designed as a two-course. You hence need to attend both days.
