Undervisningsplan

Akkadian-Sumerian Seminar and related Research Seminars at the Department of Cultural Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS), University of Oslo (UiO). Seminars on philological research methods.

1. Readings of Akkadian and Sumerian texts on Fridays from 14.15 to 18. (A beginners course in Sumerian will be included for interested students).

2. Analysis of multilingual historical terminologies: ?

a) Buddhist multilingual literatures in Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, etc. (A beginners course in literary Tibetan will be included for interested students). ?

b) Euclidean terminologies in Greek, Arabic, Latin, Chinese, Sanskrit. ?

c) The Platonic dialogue Timaios and its terminological influence: Analysing the Greek and Latin versions (Cicero, Chalcidius, Ficino). ?

3. Indian indigenous grammar: Pā?ini, Pata?jali and Bart?hari. ??

Researchers and students will also be trained in the input-methods of the Bibliotheca Polyglotta: https://www2.hf.uio.no/polyglotta/ ? ?

Participants from Doctoral Programs at the University of Oslo, will get 5ECTS for taking part at the seminars (presence 80%) and submitting an essay related to their thesis (minimum 5000 words). Students may complete examinations (20 points) for REL4181 - Historical Religious Texts at IKOS, UiO, on the basis of participation and an essay on a chosen topic. ?? The seminars will normally once a week be held in room 354, PAM, at suitable times or as agreed.

The first meeting, with general information on the seminars, will be held on Friday 26th of August at 12.15.
