Course content
The course provides an overview of important political and diplomatic texts, Hebrew and Arabic, relating to the modern history of Israel and Palestine on the one hand, and to human rights issues on the other. The relevant text genres include bi- and multilateral treaties (incl. traveaux préparatoires), memoranda, diplomatic correspondence. and other documents. The course focuses both on subject matter and linguistic/stylistic features of such texts.
Learning outcome:
Students will learn to analyze political and diplomatic texts in Semitic languages in their political and linguistic context. Students will also gain practice in academic writing and oral presentation of subject matter.
