For the Vinland course, you are requested to try to buy a Penguin book before the first lecture: Penguin Classics: The Vinland Sagas. The Norse Discovery of America. You will get it in several tourist stores in Oslo. There are several other translations in English and Norwegian which you can use, but I think this is among the best (and cheapest). Before the first lecture (Wednesday September 13 at 1415 in room 1. Blindernveien 11). Try to read quickly through Gr?nlendinga Saga (pp 49-71) and Eirik's Saga (Pp 75-105).
