ABOUT THE FINAL EXAM

Dear students,

The final exam, to take place on May 14, at 9.00 (4 hours), will be a 4 hours digital school exam, conducted in Inspera (/studier/emner/hf/ikos/KOR1506/v20/eksamen/index.html (Lenker til en ekstern side.)). Grading the exam results will take up to three weeks. The exam will consist of 3 essay questions. Each question will require a detailed narrative description as answer.  The questions will be based on the two following two academic books included into the obligatory reading list (more concretely, on these fragments from these books which are currently uploaded to Canvas):

Dal Yong Jin. New Korean Wave: Transnational Cultural Power in the Age of Social Media. University of Illinois Press, 2016.

and

Kyung Hyun Kim, ed. The Korean Popular Culture Reader. Duke University Press, 2014.

At the same time the use of the content of supplementary reading materials (uploaded to Canvas) and class Power Points for your answers, if appropriate, is allowed and encouraged too.  However, as a matter of principle, good familiarity with these fragments from the two above-mentioned books on the obligatory reading list which are currently uploaded to Canvas should be sufficient for answering the questions.

This is the first time we conduct a school exam for this subject. Thus, the questions from the previous exams are not available for your reference. We ask for your understanding.

The examination text is given in English. You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. NO REFERENCE WORKS (dictionaries etc. included) ARE ALLOWED TO BE USED DURING THE EXAM.

Please, do not hesitate to contact me or your student consultant (https://www.hf.uio.no/ikos/personer/adm/leneoje/ (Lenker til en ekstern side.)) if you have any questions or anything is unclear.

Best regards,

Vladimir
