We will look at the earliest type of writing, where only 'kanji', Chinese characters, were used, and then trace the development of the hiragana and katakana scripts and the way in which they were used. In the course of the lecture there will be a few exercises in small groups, in order for everybody to get some 'hands-on' experience with earlier types of writing.? |
