ARA4114 – Arabic Linguistics

Course content
This course introduces students to principal issues in the phonology and morphology of classical Arabic with reference to modern dialects of Arabic, particulary Yemeni and Cairene.
Learning outcome
Students will learn to analyse the phonology and morphology of Classical Arabic and Arabic dialects.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
ARA2110 – Arabisk 3+4 or equivalent

ARA2110 – Arabisk 3+4 or equivalent
Teaching
Weekly 2-hour seminar for 14 weeks.
Examination
The course is rounded off with a 4 hour traditional examination. The exam is graded from A to E (pass) and F (fail).
