Course content

The course offers a thorough examination of Latin syntax, focusing on complex sentences, and experience in translating from Latin to Norwegian and/or English and vice versa. We read excerpts from classic prose, particularly focusing on grammatical issues. 

Learning outcome

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • read and interpret Latin texts on an advanced level
  • account for the most important syntactic constructions in Latin
  • translate complex sentences from Norwegian to Latin, using a wide range of syntactic constructions.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

LAT1001 – Innf?ring i latin I, LAT1002 – Innf?ring i latin II and LAT1105 – Latinsk grammatikk, or equvalent.
