Her er et sammendrag: Usually, when analytical philosophers (such as T. Nagel, D. Chalmers) defend an anti-reductionist stance in the issue of “naturalization of consciousness”, they insist mostly on the irreducible properties on consciousness, which cannot be understood in terms of physical properties (subjectivity or problem of qualia, self-consciousness, intentionality, free will…). I will defend a different approach, inspired by M. Merleau-Ponty’s account of the “body-subject” and S. Gallagher’s view on “embodied condition” in order to explain how such reassessments of our corporeity can help philosophy to overcome the mind-body problem. Put briefly, instead of re-evaluating what mind is, we should re-consider the role of the body in our interaction with the world. Thanks to the phenomenological account of corporeity, it should become obvious why our body cannot be conceived as a mere object or a machine, and why the consciousness is not a kind of additional inner realm or a distinct thing alongside the body.? |
