This course will introduce you to digital methods as used in classical philology. We look at methods that are relevant for both linguistic, historical and literary study of Greek and Latin texts. Examples include treebanking, XML encoding of texts, teaching classics in the digital era, translation alignment, reading with digital tools, digital epigraphy and papyrology.

- have a broad overview of digital methods as applied to the study of classical texts
- in-depth knowledge of and practical skills in using at least one set of digital methods relevant to your MA thesis

Undervisning
Teaching is provided by members of the Sunoikisis consortium of digital classics program. Interactive lectures are broadcast live over the internet and they remain accessible afterwards. The local course responsible (?emneansvarlig?) decides on 12 of the offered lectures where attendance is obligatory. We meet on campus for 1 hour to discuss each of these lectures.
Eksamen
Portfolio examination. The student writes short essays related to three lectures of his/her choice. Essay subjects are provided by the teacher. The portfolio will be graded pass or fail, based on evaluation of the portfolio as a whole.
