Academic interests

My project is titled FUNCTUMUS: the functional turn in music and examines the appropriation of music for functional purposes (i.e., mood regulation or activity management) by music streaming platforms and its effects on musical practices. I use lo-fi hip?hop and its rebranding as “beats to relax/study to” as a case study.
