About the scholarship
RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time, and Motion funds up to three scholarships, each amounting to NOK 30 000. Half of the scholarship will be paid at the start, and half when the master/main thesis is successfully completed.
The scholarship is aimed at students who would like to work on their master/main thesis with the goal of publishing their work in an international peer-reviewed journal. The project theme must be within the focal areas of research in RITMO's Structure and Cognition cluster.
Who can apply
Students enrolled in the master program in cognitive neuroscience or the profession program in psychology at the University of Oslo, who are planning to start their thesis work in early 2021, or who are already collecting data and/or working on their thesis.
How to apply
- The application should be no more than 3 pages in total. It must include:
- A concise and clear description of the research question, stating the goals and hypotheses/ predictions of the project.
- A clear description of the conception and design of the project, how acquisition of data is going to (or did) take place, methods and procedure, and how the analysis and interpretation of data is going to be (or was) performed.
- If the scholarship will be used to prepare a publishable version of the results of the thesis, you must also include a recommendation from the main supervisor.
- Declare, in a separate short section at the end of the document, why the project is interesting and why RITMO’s Structure and Cognition cluster should give you a scholarship for carrying out this specific project. Please state in one or two sentences what you believe is the relevance of the project/article for the research field and for society.
- Conclude the document by describing your role in the project as well as the role of the supervisor in planning and designing the project. Describe your own role in the analysis of the data and the preparation of a manuscript, and argue for the feasibility given the limited time of your study and the duration of the master/profession program.
Deadline: 25 January
Projects that fulfill the following requirements will be prioritized
- The topic falls within the research areas of RITMO’s Structure and Cognition cluster
- The research idea is original or novel within the field
- The project relies on a good design and method
- The project is feasible within the limited time covered by the scholarship
- The student shows a reasonable degree of independence to carry out the project
- The project is supported by a supervisor who is one of RITMO’s faculty members or postdoctoral researchers
