Identity and Inspiration: perspectives on automatic generation of dance

When

Thematic Session 2: Software and Synthesis (Monday, 15:40)

Abstract

One of the case studies in our research project on creative-Ai will focus on the automatic generation of dance movements based on Ai models, and the use and implications that may have. I am going to briefly present the underlying system (https://metagen.ai/transflower) and its outputs, and will discuss initial findings from perceptual studies. The core of the presentation, however, will focus on our planned case study that uses that system in the context of traditional dance in Crete. Besides the potential value for dance education, problematic issues of personal identity reflected in dance will central to that case study.
