Postdoctoral Researcher Andrija Milojevi? from LUT University, and currently a visiting researcher at RITMO and ROBIN will talk about his work in: “Soft Robotic Systems - are soft robots future of robotics?"

Abstract

This Food & Paper-session is an introduction presentation and overview of Andrija Milojevi?'s past work in the filed of soft robotics, with ideas and plans for future work that he will realize while staying at RITMO and ROBIN. Andrija will talk about how soft robots can be optimally designed through an automated (algorithmic) synthesis based approach, giving examples of synthesis of soft robotic shape morphing structures and their application as soft robotic gripper. He will also present innovative work in the development of new soft sensor technology and the development of smart material based actuators for soft robots. In addition, he will talk about how soft terrestrial walking micro-robots can be optimally designed to realize desired behavior and control of their appendages/legs.

The talk will conclude with a discussion about future work and how it is possible to design, develop and realize novel autonomous terrestrial soft walking robots in larger scale (using different smart material based actuation technologies) for application in exploratory missions (earth or space).

Bio

Andrija Milojevic is a Postdoctoral Researcher form LUT University, Finland, and will be staying at RITMO and ROBIN as a visiting researchers for 6 months. His past work includes research in the field of soft robotics, smart material based actuators and sensors, shape morphing systems, optimization, robotics, mechanisms design, micro-robotics. He obtained his PhD in 2016, form University of Nis (Serbia), where he worked as Teaching Assistant and Lecturer, and has been a visiting researcher at TU Ilmenau and TU Berlin in Germany.
