In this concert with two internationally acclaimed free improv musicians, through qualitative interviews and physiological measurements, we examine how musicians and audience members interact during performance and what kind of connection they establish. Do audience members pick up on musical intentions? Do musicians and audience adjust to one another? Do we enter a shared zone of absorption? Could we measure and analyze that? After a brief introduction, we will all engage in a short concert, a live experiment testing these questions.
