Welcome to a seminar on research ethics in healthcare, based on a recently reviewed case by the Research Integrity Committee concerning research involving transgender children and adolescents.

In this case, researchers were found guilty of conducting illegal and unethical research on 1,700 underage patients, involving serious and negligent breaches of research ethics (see, for example, here or case no. 16 here, in Norwegian, or here in English).

The seminar will shed light on what took place and how it was uncovered. We will also review relevant regulations, the background and responsibilities in the case, issues of consent, and ethical standards in health research.

The event is open to everyone: professionals, affected individuals, students, family members, and anyone interested. The presentations will use clear and accessible language, with no need for prior legal or technical knowledge. Relevant legislation and ethical frameworks will be reviewed at an overarching and easy-to-understand level.
